Wedding
Engagement Ring
When you are thinking about purchasing your wedding
engagement rings, as well as stones and
metal, there are several other important factors to consider:
Style and
practicality:
Although few brides wish to think practically when designing their engagement
ring, style and comfort will play a huge part in the ring
that you will wear for the rest of your life. If you are someone who is
known to be rough with their jewellery, or perhaps you work in a job
that might require more sensible jewellery. For example jobs such as
nursing where you are handling patients, or textiles where you are
handling delicate fabrics might require you to consider an engagement
ring that don’t sit up high and won’t be “catchy”
Types of
settings:
Similar to above, you need to think about which kind of settings might
be safer for the work that you do, and also
for the type of gemstone that you select.
Where to buy:
There are many places to purchase your engagement ring. These days you
can buy online, at a chain store or have
your engagement ring handmade. Whilst buying online and buying stock
from a store generally allows you to receive
your engagement ring quicker, there is something special about having
your ring individually made by a jeweller,
knowing that it is the only one of its kind.
Antique rings:
Antique engagement rings are a great way to enjoy the sentiment of an
heirloom piece. You must however consider
that antique engagement rings have generally already had a life time or
wear and tear, and it is important to get
them checked by a jeweller for any repairs that might need doing. This
will ensure that you will get another
lifetime of wear out of this treasure.
Valuation for
insurance:
It is important to get a valuation of your engagement ring if you wish
to insure it. Please note that many
insurance companies do not include jewellery in their home and contents
insurance.
Environmentally
friendly:
Few jewellers can tell you where the gold and stones from your ring
have come from. Kate Shore prides herself on
using recycled gold where possible, as well as conflict free gemstones.
It is important to consider the impact that
your engagement ring will have upon the earth. For more information

Fitted Wedding
Rings:
Most brides will want to wear their wedding ring next to their
engagement ring, but also have the option of wearing
their wedding ring alone. This is important to think about when you are
designing your engagement ring, because
some designs will not allow a flat wedding band to sit tightly next to
an engagement ring. A fitted wedding ring
can be designed to be shaped around the engagement ring, or a setting
can be made to allow a wedding ring to sit up
next to it.
